Scribble Diffusion is a free app that generates AI-drawn artwork. The user supplies a quick, hand-drawn scribble, and the app will do its best to transform this sketch into a detailed full-color graphic, which users can then print or publish.

The app is distinguished from its many rivals, including AI Art Generator and Make AI Art Stable Diffusion, which focuses on text-only prompts. Here, the user is able to also input a hand-drawn prompt to obtain more specific art as a result.

Scribble a picture, type a description

Scribble Diffusion opens with a rudimentary drawing tool in which the user can scribble a quick picture. There is no option to use color here, nor are there multiple brushes. You can draw only a simple black outline. Next, type a quick description of your art into the box provided, and the app will fully refine your picture.

Don't underestimate the typed prompt

While the drawing aspect is what separates Scribble Diffusion from other AI art apps, it should not be ignored just how large a role the text field plays. A single scribble can be interpreted in many different ways by the AI, depending on which description you have entered. That said, the more precise your scribble, the less variation you'll see.

Common flaws

Scribble Diffusion suffers from many of the same weaknesses as most AI apps. The results often show a degree of distortion. For example, if you ask it to paint a human figure, you may end up with an image that has major anatomical errors. It can also misinterpret your requests, although the combination of drawn and typed props limits this.
